FAMILY NEWS: 29 Jan 2013 Jorgen Petersen, father of Yvette Klinkel, Buddy, Kevin, Eric & Randy Petersen, has been in MICU at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital for two weeks. He is now stable and off the ventilator, but still under medical care and may be facing surgery. Please keep him in your prayers. On July 11, Eric Petersen, son of Jorgen & the late Marie Jumonville Petersen had surgery in Asheville, NC. He is doing well. And speaking of doing well, Janet is fully recovered from left knee replacement surgery done in April and is scheduled for right knee replacement surgery in September. Rumor has it, she was dancing down Bourbon St. recently. As you can see below, a very Happy Anniversary is in order for Preston and Joanne on 50 years together! On behalf of all the Jumonville family, may you have many more. June 2011 Linda-- It might be worthwhile to point out that Joanne and I celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary June of of last year by riding the tourist [mostly narrow-gauge] railroads of Colorado and parts of Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. Good weather and a friendly group of fellow passengers--mostly from the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. We regret that the latter two countries have suffered recent major natural disasters and yet we neglected to exchange addresses to get more information or extend help.
Best wishes, P.---
June 2011 Hi everyone! This is not nearly as exciting as Mickey and Jim's adventure, however Harold and I just came back from taking Sylvia and Audrey on the train to Memphis. They enjoyed it and Sylvia got caught up in the "Elvis Fever!" We did the usual, Graceland, Mud Island, Sun Studio, the Civil Rights Museum and the Peabody Hotel with those precious ducks! I am happy to report that there were no Elvis sightings while there. Thank you very much! Linda Linda here again: Mickey sent me these fabulous photos of some oysters they had at a tasting and also some bouillabaise. I believe this may have been while they were in Paris this past May. Jim and Mickey went to Paris as well as Brittany. Mickey, please correct me if I am mistaken about the location here. Looks like you really could have been at Brennans! Also while on vacation, Mickey snapped this gorgeous photo of a poppy that she said had to be at least 7 inches in diameter. It is beautiful, Mickey and thank you for sharing it with the rest of us.
June 2011 Hi Linda - and everyone else. We did enjoy a great trip to Brittany and Normandy in May (plus of course time in Paris). In the small town of Locranon in Brittany I saw an old family tomb with the name of a great-great grandparent on my mother's side. I later learned that the name (Salaun) is typically Breton so at least part of my family came from the region. Someday I'd love to have the time to do some research. Anyway, we are planning a Halloween party with the theme "What Do You Think You Are?" where everyone will have to wear or carry something associated with his/her family origins. I bought an antique Breton dress in Quimper so it looks like I'm set. Now to figure out something for Jim. We wish everyone a great summer.
Fondly,
Mickey October 2010 Tina & Rusty Petersen (grandson of Marie Jumonville & Jorgen Petersen) welcomed a new son, Ryley Shane Petersen, born October 29, 2010, weighin in at 8 pounds 4 ounces. Congratulations to all. March 2010 Our tireless family organizer, Linda Jumonville, has been sidelined with a severe case of shingles. We wish her a complete and speedy recovery. January 2010 A special Happy New Year delivery came to the Mendels! Christopher and Tara Mendel are the proud new parents of a baby girl, Madilyn Rei Mendel. Madilyn was born on January 2, 2010 and weighed in at 5lbs, 3.6 oz. and 18 in. long. The proud grandparents are Aaron and Penny Mendel and the very, young, energetic great-grandmother is Carolyn Boudreaux. Congratulations to all of them. December 2009 Paul and Kim Boudreaux announce the engagement of their oldest son, Jacob to Ashley Hughes. Proud Grandmother is Carolyn Jumonville Boudreaux. Congratulations to all. Please continue to keep Eddie Jumonville in your prayers. He is still having some health issues from his diabetes. Jorgen Petersen is back home at the C. M. Tucker Nursing Care Center in Columbia, SC recovering from recent surgery. He is making progress and will celebrate his 69th birthday tomorrow, December 23, 2009. November 2009 Jorgen Petersen, husband of the late Marie Jumonville Petersen, is in the intensive care unit at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, SC. On Monday night, November 16, he had emergency surgery to repair a twisted colon and intestinal blockage. Jorgen will be 69 next month; he has been in a nursing home since he suffered a stroke in January, 1991. His daughter, Yvette Klinkel, is commuting from Charleston, SC to tend to him. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. April 2009 Our warmest condolences to Uncle Harry and family. Aunt Dottie, after a courageous battle, passed on April 11. She spent Easter in heaven with her Lord. Can't you see her bright eyes and smiling face filled with joy! The funeral will be Wednesday, April 15 at Lake Lawn Chapel ( in Metairie Cemetery), visitation at 9 a.m., mass at 11 a.m., interment to follow in Lake Lawn Park. Wednesday's forecast for NO in the Times Picayune is "sunny and delightful," just like Aunt Dottie. Also, deepest condolences to Preston and Mickey on the passing of their mother, Elmina Jumonville, on April 14. She recently celebrated her 98th birthday, but was in poor health. Her suffering is now over. Her funeral mass will be Friday, April 24th in Vienna, VA. Our love goes out to both families; we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Our love and deepest sympathies to Florence. As you know, this past year we have lost Uncle Warren, who passed away on 2/13/2008 and Aunt Florence, who passed away on 1/26/2009. Congratulations to Heather as she wed Jay Gracianette on 1/24/2009. Congratulations to Bobby and Dora Lee (Dee) on the birth of a new great-grand daughter, Abigail Veronica Harris born on 3/7/09. We ask you to remember little "Abbey" in your prayers as she was born with Spina Bifida. Abbey is doing well. 3/15/2009 Happy Birthday to Russell (Butch), turned 65 today. You can view Russell's Birthday picture on the "Memories" page, Ole! Congratulations to Angele and Stephen Ashe on the birth of their second son, Henry Leighton Ashe, 6 lbs. 5oz., born March 15, 2009. Both mother and son are doing well.
